Free Tutoring for Underprivileged Children

"MAKE A LIFE BRIGHT PROGRAM"

Each year, Reach for the Stars Tutoring, gives back by offering free tutoring sessions to underprivileged children in grades K-6, as part of our Make a Life Bright program. One of the students I have been serving in this capacity has recently moved away and I am now accepting applications for students who might benefit from this opportunity. Due to time constraints and scheduling, I am only able to take on a student who is on the south side of Indianapolis or is willing to commute to that site. Please call today if you know of a student in need. The deadline for new applicants is April 20, 2016. After all applications have been reviewed, then a decision will be made. The following conditions apply:

1. The student has to have a way to get to the tutoring sessions which are offered at a local library.

2. The student needs to be doing poorly in school.

3. The parent's of the student need to be actively involved in their child's education and commit to helping the child at home on a regular basis.

4. The child needs to be from a home that is struggling financially.

STAR STUDENT SUCCESS

"Madison" began receiving tutoring from Reach for the Stars in 2013 when she was in first grade. In the beginning, "Madison" really struggled with knowing her sounds and reading. She is now beginning third grade and is an excellent reader. "Madison's" parents were so pleased with how she was improving in school that they decided to be one, of the many, "Comprehensive Curriculum" students at Reach for the Stars. "Comprehensive Curriculum" students attend between 2-4 tutoring sessions per week and are working toward higher level skills. For example, "Madison" attends 3rd grade at a public school, but because of her abilities she is now working on 4th grade level work in most subject areas. "Comprehensive Curriculum" students must meet strict criteria for this advanced coursework. Congratulations "Madison" for being a STAR STUDENT SUCCESS!!

CHARITY OF THE MONTH:

Reach for the Stars Tutoring is a Christian based company that is dedicated to giving back to those who are suffering. Each month, 10% of all sales will be sent to an organization called US Dream Academy. US Dream Academy is a non-profit organization that provides tutoring and additional programs to children who are poor and either have a parent who is incarcerated or was incarcerated. Statistically, children who have a parent who is incarcerated or was incarcerated are up to 80% more likely to repeat that same pattern. US Dream Academy is working hard to reduce those outcomes. As a believer in Christ, all we have really belongs to the Lord. I encourage each of you to seek God's will for where He is calling you to give, whether it is of your finances, your time, or both.
